BRONZE

Al Maestri and Barbara live in Henderson, Nevada, USA. He was 72 when he was diagnosed on November 21, 2008. His initial PSA was 42.0 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 4+4=8 and although he dose not state his clinical staging it seems likely he was staged T1c. He is undecided as to his choice of treatment was . Here is his story.

My PSA jumped from 6.5 to 42 in a year and half. After my biopsy, I was diagnosed today with PC. I am now scheduled for a bone scan and a IVP to see if my PC has spread beyond my prostate.

I am 72 to turn 73 in Feb and in good health. (In fact, I am still working 4 days a week) My only health issues (other than PC) is a slightly elevated BP and slightly elevated cholesterol level. Both are being controlled with medication.

I would love to hear from anyone and everyone regarding their experiences with PC.

Thank you,

AM

Since my initial post, I've had a bone and CT scan. It seems my PC has spread to my pelvic area but not to my bone area.

I recently started on Casodex daily. I also had a Lupron shot and am scheduled to have a shot every 3 months.

Within a week or two I will start radiation treatments, 5 days a week or approximately 44 treatments. My radiation oncologist is at the Nevada Cancer Institute and is well regarded. Before I start my radiation treatments, I need to have another bone scan and a MRI at the cancer Institute so they can pinpoint the radiation "zaps".

I will keep you up to date. If anyone out there can offer any comments they would be greatly appreciated.
