Bernard Anderson and Phyllis live in United States-Colorado. He was 67 when he
was diagnosed in September 2004. His initial PSA was 4.1 ng/ml, his Gleason Score
was 7 and although he was not told his stage, it seems likely that he was staged
T1c. His choice of treatment was removal of prostate. Here is his story.
THERE
WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE
REMINDER
IN 2010
SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.
I
am now almost 73. I had my prostate removed in Sept. 2004 and PSA post op. was
0.0. My PSA remained at 0.0 until about October of 2008 when it was at 0.23. I
just got back a new PSA and it is 0.72.
My operation went quite smoothly
and I had very few bladder problems. My sex life went to zero and remains that
way today. I live in a very small town in Colorado where there are few Urologists
and few choices. If I had it to do over again, I would select the computer assisted
method of surgery. Also, I never received my records from the surgeon and I still
do not know what my staging was at initial diagnosis.
I have, today, requested
a complete copy of my records. THIS IS SOOO IMPORTANT AND I COULD KICK MYSELF
FOR NOT ASKING SOONER.
I am worried that my surgery may not have worked
long term but am pursuing additional treatment options if I might need them. Keep
up to date on what is going on even after surgery - there are many more options
even after almost five years of my post op.
Hang in there
