Dave Ross and Pat live in Ohio, USA. He was 62 when he was diagnosed on February
21, 2008. His initial PSA was 4.5 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6 and although
he does not state his staging it seems likely he was staged T1c. His choice of
treatment was robotic prostatectomy. Here is his story.
My wife and
I had decided that if there was any cancer, we would go ahead and have the prostate
removed. I have had BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia) for 20 years so we both
felt, once there was cancer present to get rid of it. Surgery was easy but very
long due to scar tissue and size of prostate. According to doc, it was size of
large grapefruit.
Recovery is going slower than I would like. I am having
problems with leakage. My surgery was done March 21 '08 and it did take 6.5 hrs
to get through all the scar tissue and remove the prostate. It seems to me that
I have less control now that immediately after. When I am sitting or laying down,
not as bad, but when I move about, watch out. I find I am using 7-8 pads a day.
I just want to hear from other men who have had this procedure for some moral
support. Thanks.
