BRONZE

Dennis Denmick and Caroline live in New York, USA. He was 63 when he was diagnosed on January 4, 2010. His initial PSA was 4.8 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7 and he was staged T1c. He is undecided as to his choice of treatment. Here is his story.

I was diagnosed on January 4th of 2010 and have gotten a CAT scan and bone scan and they are negative. I had a PCA3 test in November and it was negative at 29.6 I had a biopsy done with 18 cores taken and three were positive one was a 6 with 5% of the tissue and the other two 3+4=7 on the Gleason Scale and they were located at the left lat mid with 15% of the tissue.

My brother had prostate cancer ten years ago had he had it removed and now is cancer free. I am leaning toward taking it out using the Da Vinci surgical system. The first generation of the Da Vinci came out in 2000 and the second generation in 2007 which is called the Da Vinci S with HD and in 2009 they came out with Da Vinci Si which has two work stations.

I have to go this Friday and see a experienced Surgeon who does this procedure and then one on the 17th of this month.

UPDATED

March 2010

On March 26th I had prostate surgery at St. Francis Hospital Roslyn N.Y. This procedure was done using the Da Vinci surgical system.(Robotic Assisted Surgery) The operation took 2 and half hours and I came out of the hospital today March 27th 2010. The surgery was performed by Dr. Felix Badillo who has performed over 1,000 of the robotic surgery. I have to go in on April 1st to have the Foley catheter removed and will let you know how that went. I am in no pain right now and a little discomfort when I get up and down.
