YANA - YOU ARE NOT ALONE NOW

PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT SITE

BRONZE

Gregg Aron and Kathy live in Idaho USA. He was 51 when he was diagnosed in May, 2008. His initial PSA was 9.3 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6 and he was staged T1c. His choice of treatment was Brachytherapy/ EBRT (External Beam Radiation Therapy). Here is his story.

I went for a check up March 2008. PSA came back at 9.3. Immediately read books, studies, and internet for causes of high PSA and treatments so felt comfortable with it if I did have cancer. Being armed with knowledge was a big factor in reducing the punch in the gut factor.

I knew right off did not want surgery. I found Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia and was impressed that they actually kept track of 11,000 plus men to compile cure rates. At my stage I was told of a 94% cure rate.

I went for seed implant end of Sept. and 3 weeks later had 7 weeks of external beam radiation. The support in Georgia was amazing. It was a highlight of my life.

My first PSA three months after seed implant was 3.2. With radiation you have to be patient.
