Harold
Engle and Sandrea live in Pennsylvania U.S.A.. He was 73 when he was diagnosed
on December 15, 2008. His initial PSA was 10.5 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 4+5=9
and although he does not state his staging, it seems likely he was staged T1c.
His choice of treatment was hormone shots [ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy).]
then brachytherapy. Here is his story..
After I got the results back from
my biopsy I had an appointment with my urologist and he gave me the options of
treatment. At that time I told him I was going to get a second opinion for which
I already made an appointment. He got all upset at me and went on that he has
done many of these and why would I want to get a second opinion. He made me feel
funny so I decided not to.
We had decided to do the above treatment and
Monday January 5 I am to get my first hormone shots. Since then I am really nervous
and confused, My question is "What is the time frame of having the treatment?"
and I have decided now to hold off on the shots. He has given me very little on
the side effects.
THANK GOD for your website - I have been on it for 3
days and plan to continue. On my biopsy 4 were benign, 2 were prostatic adenocarcinoma
with 4+4 and 4+5 reading.
A very confused person I am.
Later:
I had written to you about my urologist getting upset about me wanting to get
a second opinion. I I have receive a wonderful reply from John
T on your website. He mentioned to get everything in order before I make a
decision.
My
worry is should I do this quick or is there time to get all my ducks lined up
in a row before I make a decision. I am afraid will it be to late by the time
I see all the specialist.
Many
thanks again Wonderful web site.
