Ian Meekin and Brabara live in West Sussex England. He was 63 when he was diagnosed
in December 2008. His initial PSA was 7.0 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6 and he
was staged T1c. He is undecided as to his choice of treatment. Here is his story.
I
am fit healthy and confused !!!!
I have seen consultant surgeon and consultant
radiographer and am awaiting a referral to the cancer experts in Uk.... The Royal
Marsden.... for a second and hopefully highly educated opinion before making THE
DECISION !!!
I
opted for radiotherapy at Royal Marsden in Sutton Surrey...volunteering to be
involved in 3 clinical trials...gold seeds implant, ProSpare**1
and increased targeted dosage over 19 visits instead of 38.
All
seems ok so far. A few severe side effects which have now subsided...treatment
ended on 9th July !!
Gleason
was 3+3, cancer in 5/12 cores with 10/30% involvement and PSA of 7.6.Clinical
stage T1c nx mx MRI T2 no mo.
Currently
being monitored initially in a weekly clinic...now out to 3 weeks....PSA now 0.87.
Due
more results on 17th.
Kind
regards Ian
