Jim
Steele lives in Washington, DC, USA. He was 45 when he was diagnosed on September
11, 2009. His initial PSA was 4.5 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7 and he was staged
T1c. His choice of treatment was Surgery. Here is his story:
I was diagnosed
after a PSA test done as part of my annual physical. My physician was aware that
my father had prostate cancer at age 63, so he's been giving me PSA tests for
three years now. I went from a low 3 PSA score in 2008 to 4.5 in 2009. That jump,
to 4.5, coupled with my age and family history, caused my physician to tell me
to check with a urologist.
had a biopsy that revealed T1c stage prostate
cancer with a Gleason Score of 7 (3 & 4). I will have surgery at some point in
the next month or two.
