John
Childers and Susan live in Colorado, USA . He was 60 when he was diagnosed in
August 2003. His initial PSA was 4.7 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7 and although
he ddoes not state his staging it seems from his story that he was staged T1c.
His choice of treatment was surgery. Here is his story.
I had recently
retired from the USAF and before retirement I received a physical. No problems.
I enrolled in Tricare and was requested to come in for a physical. My
reasoning was I just had one. The doctor did blood work and was concerned with
the PSA, and recommended I do a biopsy. I had two small area which came back as
cancer.
After a lot of prayer and reading and talking with doctor, my
wife and I decided that surgery was the way to go.
Now am 5 years being
cancer free. I have check up and blood work done every year. So I can keep on
top of the situation.
If I can be of help to anyone going through this
give me a shot.
