Kelly
East and Alli live in Florida, USA. He was 50 when he was diagnosed in April,
2009. He does not give his initial PSA so presumably it was less than 4.0 , his
Gleason Score was 3+3=6 and although he does not give his staging it seems likely
that he was staged T2a. His choice of treatment was Da Vinci Surgery. Here is
his story.
After my general doctor felt "something" during my annual
DRE (Digital Rectal Examination) (only my 2nd ever, I had a biopsy done at the
urologist and the results were positive. Early stage, Gleason 3+3. Had the cat/bone
scans done and everything was contained.
I decided, pretty early on to
have the surgery based on age and stage of cancer. Found a great young surgeon
in Miami where I live who has been doing robotics for a while now. A real great
guy and very talented. Had the surgery July 15th and was home on the 16th. Surgery
went great and path report showed no margins.
Catheter for a week and
a little pain but not bad. Some discomfort after catheter removal but has gone
away 6 weeks later. Normal urinating, a little leak when I cough hard.
Two
weeks after surgery I was actually able to become firm enough to have sex for
about a minute. Since then it's only about 70% firm. I'm taking 5mg Cialis daily
and just got a Vacuum device to aid rehab and use for sex. It works great with
the band on, but is uncomfortable.
First post surgery PSA was 0.01, very
happy!!!
