Max
Turner lives in Vermont, USA . He was 57 when he was diagnosed in April 2007.
His initial PSA was 7.8 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 3+3=6 and he was staged T1c.
His choice of treatment was HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound). Here is
his story - regrettably Max did not respond to reminders to UpDate his story,
so it ends in January 2008.
After getting diagnosed and doing much, much
research I has no doubts that HIFU was my choice.
I went to Toronto and
have no regrets about my decisions. Treatment went exactly as planned, I was back
at the hotel at 3 p.m. feeling a bit sore and groggy but was able to go to the
bar for a beer. Flew home the next day, should have rested an extra day to get
used to the catheter. You really do need to keep it lubed up with Neosporin, don't
let it get dry! Had that damn thing for 12 days and then what relief.
And,
no life did not resume to "normalcy" immediately...urinating was often an experience
sometimes a bit painful even, energy level remained low for a while, erectile
function has returned with aid of tri-mix, a wonder drug if ever there was one,
and the dribbles have mostly stopped.
Had my 6 month PSA last week, 0.4
ng/ml and my local urologist is pleased with my recovery. I never had any symptoms
of prostate problems prior but the more I read and learn there are so many horror
stories out there. I'm happy that my experience so far has been good.
