BRONZE

Mittch S and Archana live in Virginia, USA. He was 43 when he was diagnosed in January 2007. His initial PSA was 7.2 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6 and although he does not state his staging he would have been staged T1c. His choice of treatment is Laparosopic Surgery. Here is his story:

Just got my PSA check for heck of it. I was in India and the Labs are very cheap there, they in fact came to my house and took samples. My wife is a physician she asked me over the phone to get PSA done, she has read somewhere that you should get it done at age 40 now just to have a base, I said ok. They even threw that test in for free.

To my astonishment it came at 7.2, I thought it was a mistake, lab in third world may not be as accurate. But saw a urologist there he thought could be an infection gave me Antibiotic, for 10 days. I came back to US finished my Antibiotic repeated the PSA still 7.3. Got the Free PSA test was very low.

Decided to go to the urologist, he recommended Biopsy. Results came back with Gleason Score of 3+3=6. Well I already have my mind made. I was expecting for the worst so was ahead of the game in knowing what to do. Plus had an advantage over that my Father-In-Law was diagnosed two year ago, so had done lot of resarch then. I will go for Robotic surgery for sure - where to do is a toss-up right now. It may be Henary Ford with Menon or John Hopkins in MD. We will see how it pans out. The date will be in March. Not sure!! Will keep updated
