Stan
M and Florence live in Florida, USA. He was 59 when he was diagnosed on October
30, 2009. His initial PSA was 2.4 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6 and he was staged
T1c. His choice of treatment was RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy).
Here is his story.
Going for blood work every six months my PSA was 1.5
went to 2.4. Two weeks later went for test on prostate (biopsy). Out of twelve
samples, one had 2% cancer with some abnormal cells in one other. Gleason Score
3 plus 3. I thought "My God, not me!"
All I could think of is get it out.
I did my homework and looked at all the treatments with it being contained. On
December 28, 2009 robotic surgery was done. I will have my follow up on January
5, 2010. It was no walk in the park but not all that bad 36 hours later.
What
option you choose don't second guess it, but most of all don't rush in to it,
and don't take your sweet time. I meet some one who had the same surgery six months
ago, and like him I hope to start the rest of my life cancer free.
He has
none of the left over side effects, he says he feels like 21 again.. he did tell
me of some one at 42 years who has prostate cancer and was worried more about
sex life than his life, and now is fighting for it. My heart goes out to every
one and their families. I will let you know how it goes.............
