REMISSION

Most men diagnosed with prostate cancer finally arrive at Remission. The journey is a long one and fraught with difficulties, as we have seen. It requires many years before anyone can say with any certainty they have made it free and clear. The risk of recurrence for most local treatments after five years is small and diminishes as time goes by until, at ten years, the risk of recurrence is very small indeed.

Most of the people who make it here to Remission - men and their partners - say that the experience has been beneficial. They appreciate life and their loved ones more. They enjoy each day because they have had an intimation of mortality. It seems ironic that we have to be diagnosed with a life-threatening disease before we truly appreciate how wonderful our lives are.
