Bruce Armstrong and Diane lived in California, USA. He was 63 when he was diagnosed in July, 2006. His initial PSA was 8.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 9, and he was staged T2b. His initial treatment choice was External Beam Radiation (Proton Beam) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

Initial study lead my wife and I to Loma Linda where, to my belief, a mistake was made. With a Gleason Score of 9, I should have been given the combo pack: proton beam AND radiation. [Perhaps adjuvant ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy) might have been in order.] I got the beam only and a year later, PSA started up again.

Since then, I've had it all: rapid arc radiation for lymph nodes, Lupron shots, various chemotherapy drugs, Provenge, and as of two days ago, Abiraterone.

My PSA is now 1,163.0 ng/ml so I'm hoping this does the trick and PSA starts down. XL184 is the next magic drug up for testing.

Were I to discover I had prostate cancer today, I would head straight for the RapidArc 360 degree radiation machine - just as 'on target' as proton beam treatment with none of the time consuming prep, it blanked my lympies perfectly.

Bruce died on August 13, 2011. I am sorry he cannot help, and endlessly sorry that he died.
