BRONZE
Robert Sherman and Arleen live in New Jersey USA. . He was 60 when he was diagnosed on April 20, 2007. His initial PSA was 4.4 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6 and he was staged T1c . His choice of treatment was Robotic Surgery . Here is his story.

I had an enlarged prostate for 25 years, I saw the same Urologist for all that time, when my PSA went from 3.2 ng/ml to 3.5 ng/ml then to 4.4 ng/ml. A biopsy resulted in a Gleason 3+3 with one core 10% positive. My Urologist only does the old fashion open surgery, but after joining a local US-T00 group and doing a lot of research and speaking to a lot of Doctors and patients I decided to use Dr. Ash Tewari at NY Presbyterian hospital. He has done over 2,000 of these operations.

I had the operation on Monday August 20, 2007, I was out of the hospital on Tuesday and walking three miles on Wednesday and the rest of the week, going back to my retail business during that week and full time that Saturday.

The most uncomfortable part was the catheter that I had to use for a week, it just had to be emptied but no pain and I did not take any pain medication at all. I just had my first PSA yesterday October 5th so I don't know the results yet, however one of the big advantages of removal is the entire prostate can be biopsied. In my case the results were the same as when I went in, and no other disease was found other then that one core. I still have a little incontinence when I cough.

Since I did have BPH for so long I forgot how it felt to go to the bathroom and empty my bladder which seems to be easier now. I do get up at night a time or two, but I did that before the surgery and less now.

Thank you, and if you're considering Robotic Surgery feel free to contact me,
